Welcome aboard

So we have finally launched or should I say taken off. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is on this flight so far, as well as those who will be joining us on what I hope will be a great fun-filled journey. The feedback and responses received so far have been brilliant and I will definitely take on board (no pun intended) what has been said so far.

I think I should also use this opportunity to reveal a bit more about myself. My name is Peter Nwankwo a two left footed sports fanatic (no offense to my natural left footers, but I'm naturally right footed you see), only two years ago I graduated from university with a computing degree from where I went into the big bad world of commercial web development and programming, this is when it dawned on me that all the lectures on coding did not even scratch the surface of what you are expected to produce in a commercial environment.

To keep it short lets just say the only thing I was confident about doing was a "Response.Redirect" (my .NET and C# comrades will understand where I am coming from). Building Fantator has been a great personal experience and a massive learning curve which I have enjoyed thoroughly, the amazing thing is there are so many features which are just waiting to be released but I think I will be a bit of a sadist and drip feed it to you, sorry :-)

Who loves Coca-cola

Every time I visit a restaurant a typical scenario would be a waiter asking "and for you sir, what would you like to drink", 98.7% (don't know how i came to that specific figure) of the time my response is "A coca-cola with ice please". For what its worth I have an emergency stash of 3 bottles of coca-cola under my bed.

Whats the whole point of me telling you my obsession with coca-cola, you ask. Well today i feel like I have been stabbed in the back by them. I received a letter from coca-cola telling me they will oppose my trademark registration, basically saying they do not want me to trademark the word "FANTATOR", as it conflicts with "FANTA".

I did not even know Coca-cola owned fanta, i always saw fanta and pepsi as the sworn enemy and vowed never to have a drop unless i could help it. All this changes now, I am going to the dark side, thats right, Dr Pepper stock up, I am coming in.

Fantator (as in fan + commentator), how would anybody get it confused with Fanta, what if I called it fantastico, i need someone to school me on trademarks. Does this now mean Coca-cola are able to go after any trademark which has "F.A.N.T.A" as the first five letters.

Metro.co.uk venture candy competition

Entered the metro.co.uk venture candy competition, got invited to the second round where I met the judges and picked up a lot of good advice. Unfortunately did not make the final cut. Reasons being;

1)They thought we would get big to quick, and would not be able to handle the traffic that would be sent our way. Please tell me I remembered to tell the judges Fantator uses "memcached" and "cloud hosting" which will go a long way in helping it withstand the traffic, hmm I am sure I did.

I have this crazy thought in my head that if I made all the judges stand up and do the Fantator Oath, Fantator would have made it through to the final round. I guess you win some, you lose some.
